Happy New Year!

Wishing everyone a wonderful and blessed
 New Year, from the Fitkalls!

Thank you to the PAC for having the family photo fundraiser.  This was our first time participating and will continue to participate from now on!

Fixed Blog

Thanks to Ms. Wilson for fixing my computer and blog :) I can now  update our class blog.  Here are some fun photos I didn't get to share earlier...

Here the kids are taking turns sharing their story writing...

Our new class Mascot!  He was at the class spa!
Then it was off to outside to make an Eagle's nest.  We saw some great videos of how real Eagles in the wild build a nest.  Then it was our turn... not as easy as it looks.  Thanks to our custodian, Jamie for being so patient with all the sticks for so long!

Here is some samples of our class writing from the story Salmon Creek and some clay environments:

Here is our class Halloween photo:

Music in Div. 18!

Wow we had so much fun with Mrs. Meedin and learning how to read and play music.

Teaching the Teachers!

Congratulations on Div. 18 doing a wonderful job of teaching over 20 teachers this past Tuesday!  I have received many thank you letters expressing how impressive and respectful our class is.  Everyone was so impressed with Div. 18's use of language and explaining their connections, wonderings and thinking.

Some of SmartLearning goals are for students to think deeply about stories using SmartLearning Tools and be able to coach/teach others.  Div. 18 inspired many teachers to go back to their class and try A/B partners, walk and talk, bubble thinking/inferencing, hidden object and whip around.  If you are not sure what these SmartLearning tools are, ask your child to show you... they are the experts :)

Sorry the blog has said I have too many photos.... Who me??? No!!!!  So until I figure out how to get more photo storage there will be no more photos :( But we will continue to update it.

Music with Mrs. Meedin

We are jammed packed with singing, movement and learning to use all the musical instruments she brings for us to learn with.   Here are some of the photos from our Music Lesson...  She gave us homework to practice too!

Nature Rubbings and Exploring

Our class is getting really good at using juicy words to describe things!  It rained a little but our kids had a great time with nature rubbings and exploring the forest.  Our class sure enjoys exploring the outdoors, whether it is creating art with nature, trying to build with natural material, run and play, or investigate why things are the way they are.  We even use the rock collecting for the story pole to explore number sense in the class.  Our class has decided to count the rocks by tens as Mathematicians like to count efficiently!  Great problem solving and counting Div. 18!
